So, after much deliberation and brainstorming I have chose my theme. My subject will be people and the theme will be 'commerce' or more 'shopping'.
I have chosen this subject because I think it will produce some interesting shots and hopefully I'll be able to show that there is a strong connection between the theme and the subject. There also seems to be a strong presence of shops, garages, markets etc. most places we go so if I keep my camera with me whenever possible then I should be able to get a good variety of shots.
I don't yet know if certain shops will allow me to take photos on their premises, I shall have to chance an arm though I will no doubt steer clear of lingerie sections.
I have not yet looked into it but I will also try and research photos which share the same theme as mine and draw inspiration if possible.
Hey Jon, you mentioned you'd shot some images relating to your theme...could you post some up and begin reflecting on your shoot and developing your ideas please :)
ReplyDeleteResearch wise, Martin Parr would be a good artist to have a look at from an observational point of view, along with Andeas Gursky (photographed inside supermarkets, no people) and also maybe look at Robert Frank, not specific to your theme, but amazing observational documentary photographer I think could inspire the way in which you shoot people within your theme.
I shall be posting up a check list of everything that needs to be on your blog by after half term...also start checking your bog post against your unit criteria. Any issues, e mail :)
Hi Jon, i've tried calling on the number I have for you but can't seem to get through? Hopefully I shall see you this evening, if not could you please give me a call? Thanks, Marie
